  1.                                                With a Vintage/Modern aesthetic,  dawgheads are a new and unique viewing experience. Both a sculpture and a painting,  Artist Jennie Griffith has brought together two of her strongest passions - dogs and art. The founding of dawghead stemmed from Jennie’s desire to shift her career towards creating work that  honors the value that companion animals bring to our daily lives. Somewhat inspired by vintage signage, Jennie wanted to create a very different approach in pet portraiture with a somewhat three-dimensional effect. Her portraits provide true comfort to her customers - especially those who have experienced the loss of a beloved companion pet.  Portraits come ready-to-hang and are constructed to float an inch or so off the wall. This feature, combined with Jennie’s attention to capturing a true likeness in her portraits, reinforces the dimensional quality and life-like presence of the pet. Whether it be a celebration/memorialization of a much loved pet, a dawghead is a wonderful testament to and an acknowledgement of our four—footed family members. Satisfaction is guaranteed. Dawghead.com has studios in the Seaport District in Boston as well as in Jennie’s renovated barn in Hanover, MA.   A  percentage of every dawghead sale is donated towards the welfare of homeless animals.

For over thirty years, Jennie Griffith has worked as a professional freelance artist. She has been formally trained and has executed her skills working in many creative fields as both an artist and educator. An accomplished painter and illustrator, she has been called upon for her precise drawing and color matching skills for much of her career. Jennie has worked as an independent contractor for many creative clients such as  Hasbro, The Museum of Fine Arts - Boston, Learningsmith as well as area publishing houses. She taught both adults and children for many years at both The DeCordova Museum and the New England School of Art and Design/Suffolk University. Additionally, Jennie had a successful Faux painting business for over ten years, serving both private clients and to the trade. Her fine art has been exhibited in galleries, reviewed in newspapers and featured in national magazines. Jennie's interest, connection and love of animals came at a very early age - resulting in an ongoing menagerie of animals in need of a home. She began training her first dog, an Irish Setter, at age twelve and was soon hired to assist neighbors with their rescue dogs. Jennie has a teenage son and two rescue dogs that bring much amusement, fun and love to their lives. Both of her pups, Pixie and Rocket, have been featured separately on stubbydog.org.

Jennie was one of the the reference models for the 1970 board game Paddle Pool by Milton Bradley. During this time, Jennie lived next door to a very talented painter and illustrator, Ed Bradford - who had a very strong and lasting influence on her in terms of her artistic career - and used her for the cover of this game.
